The Britain’s Got Talent 2026 stage recently hosted Daniel Edison, a 28-year-old comedian whose “genius” one-liners took the audience on a total roller coaster of emotions. Daniel specializes in a very specific brand of humor: the “so bad it’s good” dad joke. From the second he walked out in Blackpool, it was clear that his audition wouldn’t be a typical stand-up set. Instead of long, winding stories, Daniel delivered a rapid-fire barrage of puns that left the judges completely divided.

His set was packed with wordplay that required a quick wit to catch. He kicked things off with a joke about his “new job” at a flatulence drug company, where he’d already “let one go,” and quickly moved to a bakery where he confused the order of “two teas” with the spelling of the word “baguette.” Not every joke landed perfectly—some were met with silence or the dreaded buzzers—but Daniel’s persistence and deadpan delivery were part of the charm. One of the standout moments involved a “border collie” that wouldn’t eat his vegetables and a dog named Buster who started breakdancing when told to “move.”
The judging was just as unpredictable as the jokes. While some of the panel preferred relatable storytelling, others found the “bang bang bang” style of one-liners to be hilariously refreshing. Amanda Holden admitted that even though she buzzed him, she hadn’t laughed that much in a long time, eventually changing her mind to a “Yes.” Simon Cowell gave Daniel the ultimate backhanded compliment, calling him the “worst funny comedian” he’d ever seen, explaining that the jokes were so terrible they actually became brilliant. Despite the mixed reception, Daniel’s unique brand of “stupid and funny” humor earned him the votes needed to move forward. This audition is a perfect example of why BGT is so special—it celebrates the unconventional and proves that sometimes, the best way to win a crowd is with a joke that makes them roll their eyes and cheer at the same time!
