Josh Blue: The “Laugh Junkie” Who Turned Cerebral Palsy into Comedy Gold on AGT
Every season of America’s Got Talent introduces us to performers who redefine resilience, but Josh Blue did it with a punchline. A Denver-based stand-up comedian, Josh walked onto the stage with an infectious “delightful” energy and a mission to provide some much-needed laughter to a world he felt was finally ready for it. Introducing himself as a “laugh junkie,” Josh immediately addressed the elephant in the room—his cerebral palsy—with a self-deprecating wit that instantly put the audience and judges at ease.

Josh’s set was a masterclass in observational humor and impeccable timing. He leaned into the misconceptions people have about his condition, joking that his disability often leads people to believe he’s just “another wobbly guy on the sidewalk” or that he’s perpetually intoxicated. One of the highlights of his routine involved a “healing bracelet,” where he joked that he was in a wheelchair just a week prior and feared getting “too better” because it might force him to learn a new talent like ventriloquism.
The judges were in stitches from start to finish. Simon Cowell and Sofia Vergara were visibly impressed by his ability to tackle sensitive topics with such grace and hilarity. Josh’s story about a waitress asking his friends “what he would have” instead of asking him directly—and his friend’s savage response—resonated as both a funny and poignant commentary on how society perceives disability. By the time he thanked the judges for the “best Make-a-Wish ever,” it was clear that Josh Blue didn’t need a wish; he already had the world-class talent to become a comedy superstar.
