The Future of Comedy: 15-Year-Old Jacob Sayer Wows the Judges on BGT!
Standing up in front of thousands of people is a daunting task for any seasoned performer, but 15-year-old Jacob Sayer made it look like a walk in the park. Auditioning for Britain’s Got Talent, the young comedian from the St. Helens/Wigan area walked out on the main stage to chase a massive dream: to one day be mentioned alongside comedy legends like Lee Evans. Admitting that the biggest venue he had ever played before was a 700-seat local theater that “never sold out,” Jacob faced the packed BGT auditorium with an infectious, confident charm.

Jacob started his routine by greeting the crowd and hilariously pointing out imaginary friends in the audience with rhyming names, instantly winning over the room with his playful delivery. After a quick shout-out to his dad in the audience, he jumped into his first major joke about a bizarre dining experience. He playfully explained how a waiter kept slapping his dad on the backside after every single course, only to reveal the punchline that it turned out to be a “tapas” restaurant.
The routine shifted into high gear when Jacob addressed his teachers’ advice about having a backup career. He brilliantly argued that many global superstars actually balance secret alternative professions, using music and audio cues to deliver the punchlines. He claimed Celine Dion works as a financial advisor, cleverly chopping up her famous lyrics to make it sound like she’s telling a client “I don’t know” regarding their loans. He then brought down the house with a hilarious impression of Missy Elliott running an ice cream van, using her iconic track “Work It” to mimic the reversing sounds of a vehicle.
The unique blend of stand-up and musical parody absolutely delighted the panel. Amanda Holden admitted she loved his “stupid funny” energy and praised how inventive he was with the audio tracks. Simon Cowell noted how impressive it was for a 15-year-old to command the room so effectively, choosing to follow the roaring audience reaction and giving him an enthusiastic vote. Jacob sailed through the auditions with four massive “Yeses,” proving his comedy career is off to a flying start.
